Sajid Javid appointed as new Health and Social Care Secretary

Sajid Javid has been appointed Health and Social Care Secretary following the resignation of his predecessor Matt Hancock, who stepped down after CCTV photographs were leaked of him kissing an aide inside the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) building on 6 May 2021.

Funding announced for new GP weight management DES

NHS England has announced £20 million for a new GP weight management directed enhanced service (DES), which will encourage GPs to develop a “supportive environment” to engage with obese patients about their weight.
