Education Services Grant announced for 2015/16

Schools Minister David Laws has announced the rates for the Education Services Grant (ESG) in 2015/16. The ESG general funding rate will be £87 per pupil. Local authorities (LAs) will also receive an additional £15 per pupil for the duties they retain for all pupils, including those in academies. This retained rate is unchanged from the current level.

Funding announced to help “stretch brightest state students”

Schools that stretch their brightest pupils by offering them four or more A-levels (or a large TechBacc programme, or a Level 3 International Baccalaureate) will continue to be able to do so owing to new funding arrangements just announced by the Government.

A new Ofsted report has revealed that the attainment gap between advantaged and disadvantaged pupils is closing in all schools rated as “good” or “outstanding”, probably aided by extra funding from the pupil premium and more effective tracking of pupil progress.
