From 1 April 2014, HGV operators who fail to pay the HGV Road User Levy will face a fixed penalty of £300. Any other fixed penalty offence other than parking will incur a £50 penalty, and fixed penalty parking offences will be £30.
The Government has announced that it will soon be introducing legislation so that the log book will no longer be a mandatory requirement. Operators will still have to ensure that records are kept of a driver’s duty, driving and rest, etc but it will be up to the operator as to what form these records take.
