Providing financial support for UK small and medium-sized firms wanting to participate in overseas exhibitions and conferences, the Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) is now open for applications.

Run by the Department for International Trade (DIT), covers some of the most important events in each sector’s calendar, where the best opportunities exist for UK companies to access new business.

Firms take part as a group, led by the trade challenge partner for that trade show.

DIT emphasises that, if the TAP trade challenge partner is a membership-based organisation, there is no need for participants to become a member to take part in the programme.

The TAP trade challenge partner will confirm the level of grant available, which will be between £500 and £2500. It will also inform participants in writing of any service or management fee charges before they commit to taking part.

The maximum number of grants available to individual companies will be limited to six although these can be taken in any market. To be eligible, SMEs must be based in the UK, be actively investigating export opportunities and be a “new exporter” (who has not exported in the last 12 months or whose export activity is confined to reactive exports).

For those companies who have not previously taken part in TAP, the trade challenge partner will contact a DIT International Trade Advisor on their behalf and they will help with the application.
