The total US HLS (Homeland Security) and Public Security markets are forecasted to grow from US$74.5 billion in 2012 to US$107.3 billion in 2020, so there are certain to be many companies interested in accessing these contracts.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) South East can expect considerable interest therefore in its Market Visit to Washington DC next month, which offers the chance to meet leading US Homeland Security, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, and private sector companies.

The visit, being organised with the UKTI Defence and Security Organisation (DSO), will build on the successful Security Innovation Exchanges and previous US missions in this sector.

It will also offer delegates the opportunity to participate in the GovSec/Trexpo exhibition, "the nation’s premier event for Government, Homeland Security, and Law Enforcement professionals looking for proven strategies and cost-effective technology".

Support during the Mission will be provided by the expert Homeland Security team at the British Embassy in Washington and a networking reception will be held at the Embassy.

Eligible companies based in the South East and South West regions will receive £500 of financial support towards the cost of their visit, which will take place from 12–16 May 2014.
