The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment California Environmental Protection Agency have published a new factsheet on Aloe vera.
The California Environmental Protection Agency states:
“Most people would be surprised — and for good reason — to learn that a form of Aloe vera is on the Proposition 65 list as causing cancer. The good news is that most consumer products made with this plant contain a form of Aloe vera that is not on the Proposition 65 list. Our new Aloe vera factsheet sorts all this out and explains what users of Aloe vera products need to know, particularly if they use the plant to make their own home remedies.
Proposition 65 is California's voter-approved law that gives you the right to know about chemicals that can cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
The factsheets are available on the Proposition 65 website.
