The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published final opinions on several UK REACH authorisation applications.
The applications were as follows.
Reference: AFA016-01.
Applicant: Custom Moulded Polyurethane Limited (CMP Ltd).
Substance: 2,2’-dichloro-4,4’-methylenedianiline (MOCA, MbOCA), with EC Number 202-918-9 and CAS Number 101-14-4.
Use: Industrial use of MOCA as a curing agent/chain extender in hot cast polyurethane elastomer production.
HSE sent the final opinion to the Appropriate Authorities on 18 August 2023.

Applicant: LUC (UK) Limited.
Substance: 2,2’-dichloro-4,4’-methylenedianiline (MOCA, MbOCA), with EC Number 202-918-9 and CAS Number 101-14-4.
Use: Industrial use of MOCA in the manufacture of high-performance polyurethanes specifically for custom-made rollers with high reliability requirements for steel and aluminium sectors.
HSE sent the final opinion to the Appropriate Authorities on 10 August 2023.

Applicant: LUC (UK) Limited.
Substance: 2,2’-dichloro-4,4’-methylenedianiline (MOCA, MbOCA), with EC Number 202-918-9 and CAS Number 101-14-4.
Use: Industrial use of MOCA in the manufacture of high-performance polyurethanes specifically for heavy-duty rollers, tensioner pads and spring blocks with high reliability requirements for offshore energy and renewables sectors.
HSE sent the final opinion to the Appropriate Authorities on 10 August 2023.

Applicants: Borough Ltd, Quality Plated Products Ltd.
Substance: Chromium trioxide, with EC Number 215-607-8 and CAS Number 1333-82-0.
Use: Industrial use of chromium trioxide for the etch pre-treatment step for functional chrome plating with decorative character for automotive, sanitary, heating and other applications.
HSE sent the final opinion to the Appropriate Authorities on 4 August 2023.

Substance: Chromium trioxide, with EC Number 215-607-8 and CAS Number 1333-82-0.
Use: Industrial use of chromium trioxide for functional chrome plating with decorative character for automotive, sanitary, heating and other applications.
HSE sent the final opinion to the Appropriate Authorities on 10 August 2023.
The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs with the consent of the Appropriate Authorities has six months from receipt of the final opinions in which to make decisions on whether to grant the authorisations.
