2020 rates for SMP, SPP, ShPP, SAP and SSP released

The Government has published the proposed statutory rates for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP), Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) and Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP), which come into effect on 5 April 2020, the first Sunday in April. The rate is set to increase from £148.68 to £151.20 per week.

NLW will rise to £8.72 in April 2020

The Government has, in its response to the Low Pay Commission’s Autumn 2019 recommendations, confirmed the new increased rates of National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW). These new rates will be effective from 1 April 2020.

The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed its proposed rates for statutory maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental payments from April 2019 (policy paper is here). These new rates will be effective from 7 April 2019.
