Alarming rise in suicides in the construction industry

Glasgow Caledonian University research on suicide statistics from 2015 to 2019 has shown that the number per 100,000 for construction workers rose from 26 to 29 in the four years to 2019. However, unskilled workers, such as labourers, have seen their rate rise from 48 to just over 73 suicides per 100,000.

Eight substances added to EU Candidate List

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added has added eight new substances to the Candidate List, most of which are added as they toxic for reproduction, carcinogenic, respiratory sensitisers or endocrine disruptors.

Cap on visitors to care homes in England to be lifted on 19 July

Health and Social Care Minister Sajid Javid has announced the details of Step Four for 19 July, which will involve the revoking of social distancing guidance everywhere in England apart from medical settings and ports of entry, and will bring an end to restrictions on visitors for care home residents in England.

EU launches its Digital Covid Certificate scheme
