The Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 (HSWA)

This Act is the foundation of all health and safety management, and is supported by various sets of regulations that relate to working at height. The key duties for employers are:

  • to ensure a safe place of work and safe systems of working (s.2)

  • to ensure the safety of others affected by the work undertaken (s.3)

  • to provide safe access for all those working on the premises (s.4).
