Trainer’s Guidelines

Aim

This exercise can be used in association with the sessions on dementia in order to help care staff understand the differences between the two conditions. It can also be used to introduce basic teaching on the condition. For example, the trainer could ask trainees to complete the questions as best they can and then fill in any gaps in their knowledge from going through the answers.

  1. To introduce the subject of Parkinson’s Disease, which can affect many service users

  2. To assess care staff’s understanding of the condition

  3. To discuss the care practice implications of the condition

  4. To compare Parkinson’s with dementia, with which it can be easily confused.
