This unit provides general learning support for Care Certificate Standards 8.1–8.3. Awareness of the issues raised in this unit should be helpful in their practice. Parts of the unit are also relevant for Standard 15: Infection Prevention and Control and link to Unit 1 of this module, Safe Food Handling and Hygiene.
All care homes and nursing homes will provide catering services for their service users. Food will generally be produced by dedicated kitchen or catering staff and may be served by care staff who will also be available to help service users to eat and drink where they need assistance.
