This unit provides learning support for Care Certificate Standards 8.1b–d.
All care homes and nursing homes will provide catering services for their service users. Food will generally be produced by dedicated kitchen or catering staff and may be served by care staff who will also be available to help service users to eat and drink where they need assistance.
Most domiciliary care services will also support service users living in their own homes to eat a healthy and nutritious diet. This might include care staff performing a certain amount of food preparation, cooking and serving and may also include helping service users to eat and drink.
