The approach to manual handling risks as required by the MHOR is as follows.

  1. Evaluation of the issue to see if a manual handling risk exists.

  2. Avoidance of manual handling.

  3. Assessment of resultant risks.

  4. Reducing the risk of injury by taking an ergonomic approach.

  5. Information, instruction and training.
