Hazards cause accidents and so they need to be controlled. However, we cannot control hazards that have not been identified. Simple inspection checklists may identify:
physical hazards, such as:
defects in flooring
misplaced or broken machinery guarding
frayed or trailing electrical cables
damaged or faulty portable hand tools
hazardous chemicals not adequately contained.
health hazards, such as:
lifting and handling heavy loads
repetitive handling tasks
high noise levels
cold working conditions
harmful dusts or vapours
