  • understand the importance of separation of the three elements of fire

  • be able to identify probable fire risks in their workplace.

Combustible Materials and Sources of Ignition

Discuss combustible materials, sources of ignition and activities (in the home and the workplace) which can lead to fire

Examples of combustible materials include furnishings, paper, wood, fabrics, flammable liquids. Show slide Sources of Fuel.

Sources of ignition include smoking materials, electrical equipment, equipment giving off sparks (eg grinders or welding equipment), poorly maintained machinery leading to overheating.
