The Chemistry of Fire

Fires need three elements to exist, namely oxygen, heat and fuel.

Oxygen is in plentiful supply; 21% of the atmosphere is oxygen. Fuel is also often in plentiful supply — combustible materials such as fabrics, wood, plastics and paper can be found everywhere.
