The aim of this unit is to enable participants to understand what constitutes good listening.

Key Points

  • The unit begins with a short exercise — “Just Listen” (distribute Activity 6). Divide participants into pairs and get them to take five minute turns at being speaker and listener.

  • After this exercise, spend 15–20 minutes having a general discussion about what the experience was like, and what got in the way. List important points on the flip chart.
