Pregnancy

There are particular health and safety risks for pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding, over and above the normal range of risks for all staff.

  • Tiredness, eg due to long hours, can lead to premature birth.

  • Pregnant employees have lower tolerance to extremes of temperature and an over-warm working environment can cause dehydration which may affect the employee’s ability to breast feed.
