At the end of this session the delegates should know the four basic arguments for managing safety, appreciate that a number of the ideas and perceptions they have held about safety may be wrong and understand why these ideas are wrong.

Welcome and Introduction

Welcome trainees and discuss administrative and domestic arrangements

Welcome the trainees. Outline the administrative and domestic arrangements, ie breaks, meals, fire procedures, location of toilets, smoking arrangements, messages, etc.

Conduct trainer and trainee introductions

If trainees do not know one another, ask them to give their names and job titles, and to indicate if they have been involved in accident reporting and investigation before.
