Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, employers may not require workers to work more than 48 hours per week on average. However, workers may, if they wish, opt out of this provision and agree that they will work longer hours.
Workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks’ holiday per annum including bank and public holidays (which equates to 28 days for employees working a five-day week and should be pro-rated for part-time employees).
