The Working Time Regulations (as amended) came into force in the UK in 1998. Drivers of transport services regulated by UK Domestic Drivers Hours and Occasional Drivers are subject to parts of the Working Time Regulations 1998, instead of the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005.

In 2003, the Working Time Amendment Regulations 2003 were enacted and they brought all non-driving transport workers under the regulations. These amended regulations are for all those employees working in transport undertakings who have non-driving roles, eg:

  • traffic clerks

  • administrative support staff

  • warehouse staff.

This topic covers all aspects of the regulations applying to drivers working under UK Domestic hours and other staff in the transport industry.
