Make a list of hazardous substances used on the contract.
Obtain the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) from the suppliers. If a gas or vapour is involved, establish whether the substance is heavier or lighter than air.
Check that the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is exactly the right one for the product to be used. Check the date of the form — sometimes out of date forms are used in error.
Obtain any information that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) can provide.
