Work at height means any workplace situation where a person could fall and injure themselves and is the leading cause of fatal accident in the workplace in the UK. Line managers must ensure that work at height is avoided wherever practicable, and if this is not possible, should apply the hierarchy of control, ie put in place physical safeguards, such as mobile platforms and then give preference to collective fall prevention measures followed by personal fall prevention measures to mitigate any risk of employees injuring themselves or others.
