Health and safety is governed by both the federal law of the UAE and the law of the emirate of Dubai. The main law is the Federal Labour Law of 1980 (the Labour Law).
Decisions of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs are also sources of health and safety law.
In addition to the federal law, Dubai has additional Codes of Practice, circulars and technical decisions related to specific health and safety issues. These are issued by the Dubai municipality, the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and the TECOM Group of business communities.
