Despite the extensive requirements of EC Regulation 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH), “training” is not considered in any detail.

There is however, a legislative requirement for training and so employers may wish to ensure that staff involved with REACH issues are properly trained in order to ensure that those staff make appropriate decisions which will provide compliance with REACH provisions, but without unnecessary procedures and expense. Training will also help staff dealing with customers and suppliers to deal efficiently and competently with any issues arising and enhance the company’s reputation.
