Summary

Early years provisions need to use the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 to 25 Years to support their identification of children with special educational needs and to provide a graduated response.

Provisions need to have in place a SEN co-ordinator (SENCO) or have identified one.

Changes with the Introduction of 30 Hours Funded Childcare 2017

The Department for Education (DfE) has provided additional funding to support children with SEND in early years provisions through two measures.

  1. Disability access fund.

  2. Local inclusion fund.
