The Spanish health and safety system is based on laws made by the national Parliament. The autonomous communities are responsible for the enforcement of these laws.
Occupational risk prevention in Spain is dealt with by Law 31/95, the Prevention of Workplace Risks Law (Prevención de riesgos laborales). Occupational health in Spain expressly aims to achieve the highest degree of physical, mental and social welfare of workers possible with regard to risks and the work environment.
