Smoking is prohibited in enclosed workplaces, vehicles and public buildings. Thus it is effectively banned in every pub, club, indoor public space and workplace in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The smoking-related laws cover nearly all workplaces, with a few exceptions being granted on humanitarian grounds.

National smoke-free strategies include a target to achieve a “smokefree generation” target of less than 5% of the population smoking by 2030 in England and Wales, and by 2034 in Scotland.

This topic includes information about drawing up a smoking policy, enforcing the smoking ban in the workplace and providing support to employees and pupils who may want to give up cigarettes.
