A general health and safety inspection should be carried out in a step-by-step manner with the common objective, ie in order to ensure:
safe access, egress and freedom from obstructions of passages and walkways, particularly where work areas straddle passages and walkways
the layout of the work minimises lifting, collisions and overcrowding and prevents excessive movements such as stretching and twisting during work
suitable layout and positioning of workstations, particularly those involving display screen equipment
