A risk assessment is a thorough look at a workplace to identify any hazards, situations or processes that may cause harm to people. If potential problems are identified the assessment involves an analysis or evaluation to determine how likely or serious the risk is. Measures are then put in place to effectively reduce, control or eliminate the risk.
Primary care managers must ensure that appropriate risk assessments are undertaken to assess any potential risks to staff, patients and any others affected by practice activities.
