Employers' Duties

Employers have a duty to:

  • not issue any notices of retirement after 5 April 2011

  • abolish any compulsory retirement age previously imposed on employees unless such a policy can be objectively justified

  • (if compulsory retirement can be justified) operate any contractual retirement ages so that they are the same for men and women
