Care homes may have to close for temporary periods, for example, in order to carry out major restructuring, improvement and refurbishment. They also occasionally need to be closed completely, or transfer to new ownership.

In all cases, plans need to be made which cause the minimum disruption to service users as possible and support their safety and wellbeing if they have to be relocated.
