To be eligible for a statutory redundancy payment (SRP) in a lay-off or short-time working situation:

  • the employee must give notice in writing to their employer indicating the intention to claim a redundancy payment

  • this notice must be given within four weeks of the last day of lay-off or short-time working

  • the notice of intention to claim must be served properly

  • the earliest date upon which it can be served is the last day of the final week of lay-off or short-time upon which the employee is relying.
