This policy sets out the organisation’s approach towards employing people who have criminal convictions, and towards employees who commit a criminal offence. This policy only applies to those organisations that are not required to carry out DBS checks on prospective employees.
The aim of the organisation is to treat all job applicants fairly and equally and to select people for employment on the basis of individual merit, without discrimination on any ground.
The organisation will not refuse to employ a job applicant on account of a previous criminal conviction, unless there is clear evidence that the nature of the offence committed is relevant to the job applied for.
