What it Should Contain

The letter of appointment should clearly stipulate, or make reference to, all the terms and conditions of employment. For practical purposes, this is best achieved by:

  • making reference in the letter of appointment to the fact that the employment is subject to the employer’s standard terms and conditions

  • enclosing a copy of the standard statement of terms and conditions of employment (the contract of employment) with the letter; this is best practice but not obligatory.
