Summary

Schools have a duty to eliminate discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or disability. This promotion of equality should be a fundamental part of the school’s ethos, enshrined in its policies on equal opportunities, behaviour and the curriculum. It is the right of all pupils to have the equal opportunity to learn in a welcoming and positive environment.
