Should the UK leave the EU single market and customs union without a general agreement in place, trade will continue on the basis of some specific conditions already in place and on a number of long-standing international agreements outside the control of the European Commission. Operating under these circumstances will require hauliers and consignors to comply with a number of conditions not applicable to EU members.
