Possession of an IDP as well as a UK driving licence ensures that UK nationals will be able to continue to drive in certain countries irrespective of any future UK/EU agreement. The type of permit required for a particular country will vary according to which version of the Vienna Protocol the country has ratified and other factors. The type of IDP required and any exceptions for particular countries are shown in the table below.
