Provisions need to plan to provide the children with an environment and activities that are enjoyable and will challenge them. There must be a balance between child-initiated and adult-led activities. Planning needs to be done for the provision as a whole and for individual children, meeting their unique needs and interests. Planning is vital to ensure that children’s learning is effective and that they are making the required progress towards the early learning goals. Parents should be involved in this process.
