Bereaved employees (working under a contract of employment), are entitled to take two weeks’ statutory parental bereavement leave (SPBL) regardless of length of service. The term “bereaved employee” covers several different relationships between the employee and the child
It is available to employees whose child under the age of 18 dies, or where the employee suffers a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy
A bereaved employee who satisfies certain qualifying criteria — see below — will be entitled to two weeks’ Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP).
