While many will not, some employees over the age of 50 can have age-related physical and psychological changes that could impact on their health and safety. When older persons are employed, all tasks, work stations and the workplace should be reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of the individuals and take into account any factors associated with their age. This must, of course, be approached with sensitivity.
Older workers are at a reduced risk of accidents, but they are more at risk of fatal accidents.
