Care home managers and staff should be working to the following standards as identified by the Care Quality Commission in their guidance to inspectors. Managers can use the framework as a checklist to audit their night care and as a training tool by discussing the views of staff, residents and their relatives (as appropriate) to what extent they think these standards are being achieved.   1. When choosing a home, people feel that their night-time care needs will be met because it has sufficient night staff who have the right knowledge and skills to plan and deliver the care they need.
