Alcohol, smoking or drug misuse problems among service users in adult social care should be identified and dealt with sensitively and appropriately. Service users should be provided with suitable care and support according to their plan of care.
People who live in care homes or require domiciliary care have the same rights and responsibilities as anyone else to follow their chosen lifestyle that might include or has involved drinking, drug use and smoking. However, they cannot be allowed to break the current laws on drinking, drugs and smoking.
