This topic covers the steps operators must follow to register for the provision of local bus services and details the rules governing those registrations.
Anyone who holds a PSV operator’s licence (O-licence) may register and run a local bus service outside London, on giving due notice to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner. A service can be amended or withdrawn on giving a similar period of notice. Once a service has been registered, there is an obligation upon the operator to run it in accordance with the registration.
Bus Services operated in London, but outside the London Bus Network organised by TfL must apply for a London Service Permit.
