EC Regulation 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) has limited direct labelling requirements, contained within its Annex XVII on restriction on the manufacture, marketing or use of certain chemicals and certain mixtures containing them. REACH labelling requirements have, under EC Regulation 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (the CLP Regulation), Article 36(2), to be shown in the supplemental area of a CLP label, if one is applicable. The REACH labelling requirement must also be listed in subsection 2.2 of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). EU Regulation 2017/542 adds a new Annex to CLP, Annex VIII, and requires labels to have a Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) on the labels of hazardous mixtures.
