ISO 14001 is a certifiable environmental management system (EMS) standard applicable to any organisation, large or small, in all industrial, commercial and service sectors. The standard is recognised in most countries and participation in the scheme is voluntary.

ISO 14001 sets out the requirements for EMS implementation and certification, including environmental policy and objectives, significant environmental aspects, prevention of pollution and continual improvement of environmental performance.
