Intermediate Residential Care

The care home manager responsible for intermediate treatment carried out in the home should:

• ensure that there is dedicated accommodation for the intermediate care service users and that the home’s long-term service users understand and respect this arrangement

• ensure that the specialised facilities and equipment for therapies, treatment and the promotion of activities of daily living and mobility are available for them

• ensure that appropriately qualified, experienced and supervised staff are employed or are available through sessional engagement or secondment, or similar arrangements in sufficient numbers to meet the special demands
