Intermediate Residential Care

Staff with specific responsibilities for intermediate care should:

• understand the purpose and goals of intermediate care and why it is different from long-term care

• be adequately qualified to meet the special needs of service users admitted for intermediate care

• understand the special requirements regarding accommodation, therapy or rehabilitation, and care planning appropriate to such service users

• be competent in the use of equipment available and the special techniques required
