2018 was a year of significant changes to the inspection regimes in Scotland and Wales, and to less extent in England with a revised How CQC Monitors, Inspects and Regulates Adult Social Care Services (May 2018, updated 2019).

Wales and Scotland have now similar in purpose but different in design quality frameworks to the Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) used by the CQC.

All sets of standards emphasise the achievement of person-centred outcomes for people receiving services. The Wales and England standards are more specific about how providers will achieve these outcomes than the Scottish, which require care provision to be highly individually focused, as reflected in “My Support, My Life” (June 2017).
